Surface Preparation
Correct preparation is essential for achieving a strong and long-lasting finish.
Remove any loose, peeling or flaking paint before application. Existing sound coatings should be thoroughly sanded to create a mechanical key for the new coating.
For the best results, mechanically prepare concrete floors using grinding or shot blasting. Where mechanical preparation is not possible, thoroughly sanding or treating the surface with a suitable concrete etching and cleaning solution can provide an effective alternative.
After preparation:
- Sweep and vacuum the entire floor.
- Remove all dust, dirt, grease, oil and surface contamination.
- Ensure the floor is clean, sound and dry.
- Repair cracks, holes or damaged concrete before coating.
- Confirm that the surface is suitable before mixing the product.
Application
Apply one coat of fast cure primer to the prepared floor. Allow the primer to reach the recommended recoat stage before applying the first coat of epoxy floor paint.
Apply two coats of fast cure epoxy paint using a suitable roller or brush. Mix only the quantity that can be applied within the stated pot life, as the product will begin to cure quickly once the resin and activator have been combined.
Maintain good ventilation throughout application and curing.
Important Information
- Always mix the resin and activator thoroughly before use.
- Do not mix more material than can be applied within approximately 20 minutes.
- Do not apply to damp, contaminated or poorly prepared surfaces.
- Application and curing times will increase in colder conditions.
- Ensure adequate ventilation during application.
- Allow the coating to cure fully before permitting vehicle traffic.
- Always follow the relevant technical and safety instructions.
